In Short of Lying Luanda Casella explores the power of storytelling: the power stories have to frame and manipulate reality. The performance shows us how since the ‘90s media hijacked narrative thinking. In the form of a TEDTalk, Short of Lying exposes different mechanisms of manipulation to create a playful tension between deception and awarenes.

In Short of Lying fileert Luanda Casella spitsvondig de kracht van storytelling, van verhalen die de werkelijkheid kaderen en manipuleren. De voorstelling toont hoe media sinds de jaren ‘90 het narratief denken kapen. In de vorm van een TEDTalk legt Casella de verschillende mechanismen van misleiding bloot om zo een speelse spanning te creëren tussen bedrog en bewustwording

Luanda Casella is een Braziliaanse schrijfster en performer gespecialiseerd in storytelling. Ze woont en werkt sinds 2006 in België. In 2017 studeerde ze af aan de KASK School of Arts in Gent. Met haar solovoorstelling Short of Lying won zij in 2018 de Sabam Jongtheaterschrijfprijs op festival Theater Aan Zee. Afgelopen september speelde ze haar voorstelling op het prestigieuze TheaterFestival in Gent waar ze tevens gevraagd was de State of the Youth uit te spreken.
