About the film: Mutum means mute. Mutum is a black bird that sings at night. It’s also the name of a remote place in the Brazilian hinterland, where Thiago lives with his family. 10-year-old Thiago is different from the other kids. We only see the hazy world of adulthood through his eyes – a world of betrayal, violence and silence. With his brother and only friend Felipe, Thiago has to face up to a world he will eventually leave.
