Human Rights University Tour: Enforced Disappearances Edition
This year’s ????? ?????? ?????????? ????, presented by Justice and Peace Netherlands and the University of Amsterdam, will bring together the Human Rights Tulip award winner and the International Commission on Missing Persons to discuss enforced disappearances.
You are invited to join the talks and debates on the widespread issue of enforced disappearances. This phenomenon is a crime under international law and the human element to it is clear – people are taken by agents of the State or groups acting with the support of the State and there is a refusal to acknowledge the deprivation of liberty or the whereabouts of the missing person. It is used as a means to terrorize society, spreading fear and insecurity to families and communities. Every single enforced disappearance is a violation of human rights.
