Cinema Colombiano is back!

The CINEMA COLOMBIANO FILM FESTIVAL returns on the 24th and 25th of September 2022! It will take place at WORM Rotterdam (on Saturday) and at Filmhuis CAVIA in Amsterdam (on Sunday), each day with a distinct program filled with Colombian music, food (empanadas!) and of course films that have never been shown in The Netherlands.

Dutch premiere of LOS CONDUCTOS

We’re proud to show the first feature film by Camilo Restrepo, whose short film LA IMPRESIÓN DE UNA GUERRA was part of Cinema Colombiano in 2016. Shot on 16mm, we follow Felipe “Pinky” Lozano through nighttime Medellín, where he seeks revenge after he freed himself from the grip of a religious sect. His analog film techniques combine well with the work of Ana Bravo Pérez, whose short film WHEN THE SHOT will be shown before.

There’s also a special focus on DIY filmmakers like Victor González Urrutia, who made around 40 films in Villapaz, and the legendary Jairo Pinilla, director of the first horror film in Colombia. We will have the feminist views of Ana María Millán, whose work Los Efectos Especiales de Jairo Pinilla will be exhibited at WORM ánd Cavia, and we’re showing Cada Vez Que Muero by the Red Comunitaria Trans from Bogotá. The ancestral resistance will be present with Bakaçxtepkaçx (including a Q&A with protagonist Daniel Álvarez) and Truambi by the filmmaker Mileidy Orozco Domicó (Keratuma) from the indigenous Embera Eyabida.

AFTERPARTY IN WORM

Expect plenty of music in our program as well, starting with the film Del Palenque de San Basilio from directors Esperanza Bioho Perea and Erwin Goggel (cinematographer of La Vendedora de Rosas a.o.) on Saturday. The film brings together several of the most legendary musicians and offers an important view on San Basilio de Palenque, the first free town in America!

Saturday night will continue at WORM with an afterparty featuring the diabolical cumbia experiments by El Satánico Cumbión, and the obscure music selections by Duckfood and Edgar Nevermoo. 

Sunday tickets can only be bought at CAVIA on the day itself. Cineville is valid.
